One Year

Its been One year since the South Asian Earthquake effecting India, Pakistan and even parts of Afghanistan. I remember hearing about it last year, the worst part was that it was during Ramadan. These people who got up thinking it was just any other normal day, some might’ve been still sleeping, and some might’ve been at school or work. The quake hurt us the most because so many were at school and it took down so many schools, the quake took away most of our future, the children. The quake took away our future’s hope’s, their family and parents. I know so many people who were deeply effected by the Earthquake, I have a friend who has only one family member that has survived the quake, that’s it just one. So many rushed there to help, hamdulilah at least it showed that yes we can unite during such horrible times, and together yes we can make a difference But sadly a lot of the help and organizations are not enough. They need more, a lot more, its been a year and the government has to start doing a lot more to help these people see at least a little hope and a little bit of light in their future.

The quake took away somewhere about 75,000 lives. Looking at the picture in the beginning of this post you can see how so many places, buliding’s, cities were all destroyed. 6,000 schools have been destroyed, it made me feel sad of how we complain so much about going to school and home work and hey I’m guilty of it we all are, my little brohter who is in first grade does it too. SubhanAllah it’s because we don’t know that having school actually is a blessing, we don’t know how important or how children around the world want to go to school so badly but they can’t. I know someone who is helping out the orphans there. She brought back photos, those photo’s have been permanently imprinted in my heart. She would tell so many stories of what the kids are going through. One of the pictures that is all ways in my mind is of this little girl. She’s the cutest little girl I have ever seen, and when you see the eyes of that little girl, yaAllah it just can’t be explained. Kashmir is probably one of the places that scares people the most. The beautiful place that it once was today still looks like a disaster zone. It has refugee camps all over the place, and the worst there are still orphaned children that need caring that they are just not getting. Remember these people, keep them in your du’aa, and never forget these people. The amount of pain suffering and that they have gone through I don’t think is possible for us to be able to imagine, and this quake connected so many people that it is truly quite amazing.
