Watch this

This is one of my favorite videos. The background song is called ‘Look into my Eyes’ by Outlandish I’m not really all that familiar with them but this specific song does a very good job. The video doesn’t really contain any graphic pictures so yeah I’d suggest all of you to watch it.:

Silly Bush

I found this article on BBC News. I guess President Bush just couldn’t help but to let out his true feelings, here are some quotes that got, well a lot of peopel upset (from the article) and juss some other quotes that I pulled out of the article :

On Monday, during a press conference from his ranch in Texas, he said terrorists “try to spread their jihadist message - a message I call … Islamic radicalism, Islamic fascism”. A moment later, he said “Islamo-fascism” was an “ideology that is real and profound”. Then, on Thursday after the arrest in Britain of two dozen people suspected of plotting of bomb planes travelling to the US, he said “Islamic fascists… will use any means to destroy those of us who love freedom”.

“…use of ill-defined hot-button terms feeds the perception that the war on terror is actually a war on Islam, Parvez Ahmed“.…”

In fact, a Gallup poll released the day of the arrests in Britain showed that two out of five Americans admit to feeling prejudice against Muslims.

“Members of the Muslim community here do not believe in the administration. They rightfully discount much of what President Bush says. People have closed their ears to him.”

I think Ali from Ummah films can help out here a little:

Three Worst Men

I found this story on the Myspace group Falesteen :
Three Worst Men: There were three men competing to see who the worst one in the world is. The first one attacked a woman, beat her until her teeth fell out and she bled from her nose and ears. He beat her so savagely that she fainted. He turned to the others and said, “I am the worst one of all.” The second man stepped up to rape her and beat her further until she was almost dead. He turned to the others and said, “No one can be worse than me.” The third one stepped up, smiled coldly, and said, “No, I am the worst one even though I just stood by and watched, because this woman is my sister. The woman is Lebanon. The first man is Israel. The second is America & the West. The third is the Arab world that stood by and did nothing….

Giving “rice” a Bad Name….

In the recent issue of Time magazine, there was an interview with Condoleezza Rice. Some of her responses made me laugh, some really ticked me off and others, well what to say… You can read the article here

Beirut

You should read this article (clicky here)

Here is a small portion of it:

‘This is terrorism’

There is a widespread and deeply felt sense of grievance here that the majority of Lebanese are suffering for the continued existence of the military wing of Hezbollah - something their weak government was not in a position to do much about.

Uncertainty - and incomprehension that any of this is happening - is eroding energy here, and wearing people down.

Beirut streets are power-cut dark at night. Shops close early. Cafes and restaurants are struggling to survive, often serving barely one tenth of the usual number of customers.

Taxis apologise in advance in case they run out of petrol before they reach your destination.

And faces grow taut with exhaustion at the stress, and the fear of explosions.

Smoking hubble-bubble at a cafe one evening, I heard the sound of a fighter-bomber overhead.

A young man at the next table leaned over to me, gestured in the direction of the menacing rumble, and said: “This - this also is terrorism!”

Looky Here-psht white people calling my Afghan food “very strange tasting”.

Iraqi Baby

ryaeryjgyhj.jpg

I love this poem, I’m not sure who the writer of the poem is :

To the People of the World
This is the story that must be told
Of an Iraqi baby, not very old

Lying in her crib one star-lit night
How could she know of those planes in flight?

She lay there quietly touching her nose
Watching her mobile, wiggling her toes

Oohing and cooing, so sweetly is she
Talking to someone, who could it be?

An angel is standing with her in the room
The baby is smiling, unaware of her doom

The crib starts to shake and the mobile goes round
And suddenly comes a most deafening sound

The ceiling drops in, in a second or two …
On top of her crib so she ceases to coo …

No one knows how long she lay there
Who thought about it? doesn’t anyone care?

Is she alive? is she dead? Is she in any pain?
Now that you mention it, who knows her name?

Her name is Amal. In English we say Hope
Crushed between the rubble

Her tiny fingers start to grope

“Where is my mummy? I love her so dear
Come, get me mummy! It’s dark in here!

I’m scared and I’m hungry and I can’t see my feet
There’s blood in my mouth! Give me something to eat!

Where is my daddy? Where’s my big brother?
It hurts when I breath! Where is my mother?!

How long have I been here? Is this just a dream?
I open my mouth, but can’t even scream

That angel appears once again to my side,
This time with a tear I plead, ‘Why have I died?’

Am I alone in my sufferings? No, there are many others
In our grief and our misery, we are sisters and brothers

Who are we? I ask you… for what crime did we die?
They’re throwing a party! Doesn’t anyone cry?!

Is it True? Am I nothing?! How could it be?
Don’t they also have babies, just like me?

‘It is war’, they say, of which death is part
How blind they’ve become, how hardened of heart

Did someone say ‘hero’? To whom do they speak?
A victory claimed for killing the weak?!

Why are they happy? Why are they proud?
Don’t they know that I’m cold in my burial shroud?!

No war has been won; no ifs, buts, or maybes,
They’ve only killed us innocent, helpless babies.”
